Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) presented the country’s diverse tourism offerings at the Luxury Travel Mart (LTM) series of events held in Tashkent, Almaty, and Moscow from February 20 to 27.
Participation in these events aimed to highlight Azerbaijan’s key tourism offerings, including health and wellness tourism, world-class ski resorts, rich cultural heritage, gastronomy and the rapidly growing business events sector.
B2B meetings with travel trade representatives from across the region played a vital role in strengthening partnerships, creating valuable networking opportunities, and supporting the expansion of Azerbaijan’s tourism cooperation in Central Asia and Russia. The events in Tashkent, Almaty, and Moscow brought together 450 travel agencies and tour operators, as well as over 1,200 travel buyers.
The markets of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Russia continue to demonstrate strong interest in Azerbaijan as a travel destination. In 2025, Azerbaijan welcomed over 62,000 visitors from Uzbekistan, representing a 34% increase compared to 2024. Visitor numbers from Kazakhstan reached approximately 104,000 in 2025, marking a 20% increase year-on-year. The Russian market also maintained steady growth, with a 2% increase recorded in January 2026 compared to January 2025.
This growth in visitor numbers has been supported by strong air connectivity between Azerbaijan and the region. Direct flights connect Baku with Almaty, Astana, Aktau, Atyrau, Tashkent, Samarkand, and Urgench, operated by AZAL, Air Astana, FlyArystan, Uzbekistan Airways, and Centrum Air. In addition, Azerbaijan is well connected to Russia through direct flights from multiple cities, including Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Ekaterinburg, Kazan, and Novosibirsk.
