The official opening ceremony of the Office of Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) in Beijing was held on 29 May, marking a further expansion of Azerbaijan’s tourism presence in the Chinese market.
The establishment of the office aims to strengthen cooperation with the Chinese tourism industry, increase awareness of Azerbaijan’s diverse tourism offerings, and further expand promotional activities across the market.
The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Fuad Naghiyev, Chairman of the State Tourism Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Teymur Nadiroghlu, Trade Representative of Azerbaijan in the People's Republic of China, Mr. Florian Sengstschmid, CEO of ATB, Embassy officials of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the People’s Republic of China, as well as representatives of the Chinese and Azerbaijani tourism industry and media.
In his address at the event, Fuad Naghiyev underscored that the establishment of the office in Beijing reflects the strategic importance Azerbaijan places on the Chinese market. He highlighted that tourism cooperation between the two countries has been advancing dynamically in recent years, with direct flights and a visa-free regime providing further momentum to this growth. Mr. Nagiyev emphasized that the China office will play a pivotal role in more effectively promoting Azerbaijan's tourism potential across the Chinese market.
During the event, participants discussed prospects for future cooperation and the development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and China. The evening concluded with an official dinner, accompanied by musical performances from renowned Azerbaijani jazz pianist and composer Emil Afrasiyab, adding a cultural highlight to the program.
On the eve of the opening, ATB also participated in the Envision 2026 Global Conference hosted by Trip.com on 28 May, continuing its engagement with key tourism industry stakeholders in China. During the event, Azerbaijan was presented with the "Strategic Destination Partner of the Year" award in recognition of the successful cooperation and ongoing collaboration between the parties.
