1. Is it safe to visit Azerbaijan in light of the ongoing spread of COVID-19?
The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, which began in December 2019, presents a significant challenge for the entire world. All travellers are recommended to follow the guidelines instructed by the World Health Organisation in preparation for your trip, and to reduce risk of exposure to COVID-19.
2. How many cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Azerbaijan?
233770 people tested positive for coronavirus in Azerbaijan, with 3209 fatalities. 228299 people have fully recovered and been discharged. 3. Will I be at risk of contracting coronavirus if I visit Azerbaijan?

4. Is Azerbaijan restricting travel from any destinations in particular?
Restrictions on travelling to and out of Azerbaijan by air or land are in force until the 1st of April, except for cargo and charter flights.
Issuance of e-visas has been temporarily suspended for all foreign citizens. Those who wish to visit can apply for a visa via their local embassy. To obtain permission to enter Azerbaijan, foreigners have to submit a medical certificate after being tested for COVID-19. This requirement also applies to Azerbaijani citizens who have visited countries affected by an outbreak of coronavirus in the last 14 days.
All travellers will be subject to health monitoring upon arrival in Azerbaijan and could then be subject to mandatory follow-up measures aimed at preventing the spread of coronavirus. This could include being transferred to quarantine for 14 days, or 21 days if required. As such, passengers are advised to carry additional supplies of necessary medication in carry-on luggage.
5. What precautions should I take when travelling to Azerbaijan?
All travellers are recommended to follow the guidelines instructed by the World Health Organisation in preparation for your trip, and to reduce risk of exposure to COVID-19. As such, all travellers should monitor their health closely at this time and seek medical attention promptly if they feel unwell. If they have a fever or respiratory symptoms (e.g. cough, runny nose), they should wear a mask and call the clinic ahead of the visit. Other precautions to adopt:
The use of personal equipment protecting respiratory passages is obligatory in the transport facilities used for inter-city (inter-regional) and intra-city (intra-regional) passenger transportations, at public transport stop bays, when standing in queue in front of ticket issuing offices, ATM machines and payment terminals, bazaars, public catering, trade, work and service facilities.
6. Is it safe to visit Azerbaijan’s sights (e.g. malls, landmarks)?
All travellers arriving in Azerbaijan should monitor the local news for closures and restrictions of tourist sights.
7. If I suspect that I have come into contact with the virus, what steps should I take? Will I get access to Azerbaijan medical facilities?
You should seek medical assistance by calling 103 (within Baku), 113 (outside Baku) or 1542.
8. When will Formula 1 and UEFA Euro 2020 be held?
Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2021 will be held on 03-06 June 2021. UEFA Euro 2020 games in Baku will take place in 2021 on June 12 (Wales - Switzerland), June 16 (Turkey - Wales), June 20 (Switzerland - Turkey) and July 3 (quarter-final).
9. Are Azerbaijan’s tourist spots functional?
A special quarantine regime is imposed in the country until 06:00, 1 April. Functioning of malls and shopping centers is suspended. Functioning of shops, museums and exhibition halls is permitted. Inter-city and inter-regional travel is allowed. On-site services in catering facilities are allowed from 06:00 till 00:00.
