Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) participates in the “HEALTHXCHANGE SUMMIT 2026” held in Varna, Bulgaria, from 11-13 May.
Considered one of Europe’s leading platforms in the fields of health, spa, and longevity tourism, the summit brings together government institutions, tourism organizations, medical and wellness industry representatives, as well as international experts. Within the framework of the event, emerging trends in health tourism, innovative approaches, and opportunities for international cooperation are being discussed.
As part of the summit, Teymur Suleyman-zada, Deputy CEO of ATB, participated in various panel sessions and bilateral meetings, presenting Azerbaijan’s potential in the field of health and medical tourism to international partners. During the meetings, information was shared on the country’s rich natural healing resources, spa and recreational opportunities, as well as initiatives implemented to develop the medical tourism industry.
The event serves as an important platform for gaining in-depth insight into quality standards, management models, and certification mechanisms applied in the field of health tourism across European countries, as well as for discussing the potential application of these practices in Azerbaijan.
During the visit, ATB has joined the European Spas Association (ESPA), one of the leading organizations in Europe active in the fields of spa, health, and medical tourism, as an advisory member. This membership will contribute to the expansion of Azerbaijan’s international cooperation in the field of health tourism, the promotion of best practice exchange, and the establishment of new partnerships.
Azerbaijan positions itself as one of the region’s most promising health tourism destinations due to its rich natural resources, mineral and thermal waters, spa and recreational facilities, as well as regions such as Naftalan and Lankaran, which are distinguished by their healing and restorative tourism potential.
