The State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) participated in the “PATA Annual Summit 2026”, which took place across the cities of Pohang and Gyeongju in the Republic of Korea from 11-13 May.
Convened under the theme “Navigating Towards a Resilient Future", the summit brought together tourism leaders from across the Asia-Pacific region to address the opportunities and challenges defining the industry’s path forward
Azerbaijan’s delegation contributed to the summit’s high-level panel session on “Sustainable Tourism Governance in a Post-APEC Landscape”. Bringing together national tourism authorities, the session examines how governments can lead effectively amid shifting geopolitical, economic, and environmental realities.
Discussions centered on policy alignment, sustainable destination management, and cross-border collaboration with a shared focus on balancing growth with resilience, community impact, and long-term competitiveness in an increasingly complex global tourism environment.
During the summit, Florian Sengstschmid, CEO of ATB met with Noor Ahmad Hamid, CEO of PATA to exchange views on opportunities for international cooperation in tourism and Azerbaijan’s promotion across the Asia-Pacific region.
The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) stands as one of the most influential networks in global tourism, connecting destination management organisations, tourism boards, and industry partners across the Asia-Pacific region.
Azerbaijan’s participation in the PATA Annual Summit reflected a continued commitment to strengthening the country’s presence in new international markets and to engaging with the global frameworks shaping the future of sustainable tourism.
