On 12th September, Azerbaijan Tourism Board participated in the 13th Wiener Reisebürotag at Aux Gazelles Vienna, a gathering of Viennese tour operators and travel agencies, organised by the Austrian Economic Chambers (WKO). Azerbaijan was featured as a selected destination of the year, and the evening event, themed "Azerbaijan: Land of Eternal Fire," offered 150-180 industry representatives a glimpse into the country's colourful culture and diverse tourism experiences.
Alongside Azerbaijan Tourism Board, Aviareps representing Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) and Elite Tours also showcased exclusive travel offerings of Azerbaijan and the unique experiences the country has to offer.
The program was opened with a welcome address by Mag. Gregor Kadanka, Chairman of the Wiener Reisebürotag, and Florian Sengstschmid, CEO of the Azerbaijan Tourism Board, which was followed by a lively networking session amongst key representatives from international tourism industries. The evening concluded with musical performances by the renowned Azerbaijani pianist and composer Isfar Sarabski.
Azerbaijan offers a broad spectrum of attractions, from the modern cosmopolitan city of Baku – home to the UNESCO-listed Old City – to the grandiose Caucasus Mountains, serene shores of the Caspian Sea, and the ancient Silk Road’s legacy in the enchanting town of Sheki.
Today's travellers can enjoy a wide range of modern amenities, including world-class hotels, restaurants, and shopping centres. An exciting week spent amongst Baku’s diverse architecture and top-notch restaurants can be complemented with exceptional experiences in Azerbaijan’s less urban regions. Travellers can discover the heritage of the legendary Silk Road in Sheki and the small mountain village of Basgal, known for preserving the traditional craft of kelaghayi, the exquisite Azerbaijani silk headscarf, handmade and printed with natural dyes. For the true nomadic experience, one can journey into the mountaintop village of Khinalig, located 2,220 metres above sea level in the Greater Caucasus Mountains. Newly developed hiking routes along ancient passes lead visitors through the lush landscapes of the diverse terrain, and across historic mountain villages and astonishing views.
AZAL Airlines offers convenient direct flights from Vienna to Baku three times a week, on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Citizens of Austria can apply for an e-VISA through evisa.gov.az at least three days before their planned arrival date, or opt for an urgent visa, which can be processed within 3 to 5 hours. The visa is valid for 90 days, during which Austrian travellers can visit Azerbaijan for up to 30 days at a time.
