Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB), together with 10 tourism industry partners including Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) promotes Azerbaijan as a year-round travel destination in Kazakhstan International Tourism Fair 2026 (KITF) in Almaty from 22-24 April. One of Central Asia’s most significant travel trade platforms, KITF provide an important stage for Azerbaijan to present the full breadth of its tourism offering to the Kazakhstani audience.
The participation aims to highlight Azerbaijan’s diverse tourism offerings, with focus on cultural heritage, outdoor and adventure experiences, health and wellness, as well as business and events opportunities (MICE). Together, these pillars reflect the country’s ability to cater to a wide range of traveller needs whether visiting for leisure, or professional purposes.
Engagement with the Kazakhstani travel trade began ahead of the exhibition itself. On 21 April, ATB representatives delivered a destination presentation to 40 leading Kazakhstani tourism industry professionals, providing an in-depth look at Azerbaijan’s tourism landscape and year-round potential. The visit continued with an exclusive networking dinner attended by more than 20 prominent tour operators and agencies, creating a focused environment for dialogue and further reinforcing the ties between the two countries’ travel industries.
Travel between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan is increasingly well-supported by both policy and infrastructure. The mutual visa-free regime between the two countries removes a significant barrier for travellers, while direct flights connecting Baku with the major Kazakhstani cities of Astana, Almaty, Atyrau, and Aktau, operated by Air Astana, FlyArystan and AZAL, provide convenient access. Connectivity is set to grow further, with a new Shymkent-Baku route expected to launch in June this year.
Combined with these accessible travel conditions and growing tourist interest, the positive trend is reflected in rising demand. During January-March 2026, the number of visitors traveling from Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan increased by 8.3% compared to the same period in 2025, reaching 19 672 visitors. This positive trend reflects the strengthening appeal of Azerbaijan among Kazakhstani travellers.
